Fancy Folds - Simple Box Card

Happy 2017 Peeps! Welcome back to other Fancy Folds International Design Team blog hop. . . we are so excited to have new team members and incredibly different projects for the new year. Wasn't Martha's project incredible?! She is such a talented stamper!

This is my Simple Box Card for this month:
I followed Valita's YouTube Tutorial which is so easy to follow and adopted the exact dimensions. The base card is Peekaboo Peach which I have mounted with a rectangle of Cupcakes & Carousels DSP from the paper stack in the Occasions Mini Catalogue.

I wanted to have a card that was a little bit whimsical and fun and the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP stack offers so many alternatives.  I heat embossed the bokeh spots from the Dragonfly Dreams set in Copper Stamping' Emboss powder. I wanted the background to be like a party with dappled light and dragonflies around the bunting. . .
The dragon flies from the Dragonfly Dreams set is a two step stamped image. I rock and rolled the wings with Pool Party and Bermuda Bay ink on Very Vanilla card stock then stamped over with the dragonfly detail with Tuxedo Black Memento ink then I stamped the body in Bermuda Bay ink only. I coloured over the wings with Clear Wink of Stella then fussy cut the dragonflies. I double dimensionalised the dragonflies for added height and to get more of a contrast between the stamped images and the DSP background.
The sentiment is stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, both the "friend" stamp and the framed outline are from the Awesomely Artistic set. Likewise I stamped the smaller dragonfly from the Awesomely Artistic set in Pool Party and Bermuda Bay ink again using the rock and roll technique. I daubed the edges with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I then applied Clear Wink of Stella over the colours.
Rather than a belly band I preferred the Gold Binder Clips which added a touch of bling and the ribbon ties the colour themes together. Inside I included some gift tags which also could be used as bookmarks. The Peekaboo Peach Taffeta ribbon is the perfect textural contrast for the project.
The base liner is Very Vanilla and I did't stick it into the base as it would make it too hard to write your message without it being removable. I punched the top of the base card with the 1/8" handheld circle punch so that it can be removed with ease. The bottom of the base card includes a 1" length of the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP to tie in with the theme.
I thought that the four tags were versatile and added to the overall theme. The top corners of the tags were rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder. The Peekaboo Peach Taffeta ribbon is secured through the hole in the top of the tag with Copper Metallic Thread looped around the ribbon 5-6 times and tied off.
I thought that the carrying through of the "friend" sentiment tied the project together.
I hope that you have taken some inspiration from my project today. It is a very simple but high impact fold that I would encourage you to try. Thanks for stopping by!

Don't leave us just yet because Aude's project is a must see and it's her first time hopping with us!

Have lots of creative fun!

Cheers
