This is my take on the project:
It is a square card which is 6"x 12" (14.8cm x 29.6cm) - Whisper White card stock layered on the same size of Old Olive. I scored the card at 4 1/4" (11cm) from the left side and 41/4" (11cm) from the right side as the card stock sits landscape. I used the Oval Framelits for the swing shape in the centre. I used the incredibly easy-to-follow Swing Card Tutorial for instructions.
The card is basically a z-fold with a special feature centre. I partially cut the scalloped oval to the scored lines on the white card stock and cut it out completely from the Old Olive base card. I ultimately adhered the cards together but stamped first.
I initially stamped the lace from Touches of Texture in Smokey Slate ink around the perimeter of the white card stock. Next I stamped the foliage around the edge of the white card stock ~ I stamped the flowers and long grass stamp from In the Meadow set in Pear Pizzazz. I then stamped the weedy stamp from Wild About Flowers in Old Olive. The Real Red flowers are from the Number of Years (I wanted the suggestion of flowers but in blurred detail). I also randomly stamped the cluster flower image from Number of Years in Blushing Bride.
I wanted the whole card to look like a bundle of wildflowers - I was aiming for feminine and whimsy. . . so I added some Blushing Bride ink with a dauber around the stamped areas and also sharpened the perimeter of the card with Smokey Slate ink via a dauber. I highlighted the scalloped cut-out around the central sentiment with Blushing Bride to make the sentiment pop.
The swing feature is mounted with an oval of Old Olive and then with a smaller oval of Whisper White that I stamped (with the same stamps that I used on the perimeter of the card) in the same colours. But I only daubed the edges with Smokey Slate to define the area a little more. The sentiments from Me-Grateful are stamped in smokey Slate; I thought to keep the colours a little subdued.
Of course it needed a bit of bling so I added a strip of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper, mounted this with a thin strip of Silver Foil Paper and a strip of Old Olive card stock. I stuck it on both the front and reverse of of the card to continue the theme because I have to be honest it felt a little odd that the card didn't fold in half.
Ultimately you are going to write on the reverse side of the card so think about the placement of the sentiment to ensure that if the card is open on a shelf that a the right words are on the front.
Ironically we used to sell flip card framelits a couple of years ago and here we are going back to basics of measuring and cutting. It shows that these fancy fold skills will always come in handy. Now I would love if you would take the time to pop by my friend Frenchie's blog she is such a clever stamper!
Until next time - stay glittery!
