You have possibly just dropped by from Nadine Weiner's blog - I love Nadine's work it always inspires me to either acquire a new stamp set, designer series paper or try a different ink colour combination and this month is no different! Gorgeous project! It makes it hard to follow in her footsteps but here is my creation for "stencils":
Surprise, surprise, surprise - square card! The base card is Crumb Cake, mounted with a square of Crushed Curry and then mounted with a further square of Gold Foil Sheet and the stamping canvas is Whisper White card stock.
The stamp set is Painted Harvest and I think it is going to be very popular this holiday season.
I have used a stencil to ink the background with the brick-like pattern by simply applying a Crumb Cake ink pad directly on the stencil and inking in the voids. I then applied Embossing Paste randomly across different areas of the background. The stencil is from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks set. I wanted different textures and colours to make the flowers pop.
I stamped the sunflowers using the two step stamping images in the Painted Harvest set. I stamped the base less detailed stamp in So Saffron. I then stamped the detail layer stamp in Crushed Curry and again in Soft Suede (which I stamped off once). The flower centres were stamped first in stamped off Soft Suede and then stamped again in Soft Suede. I also coated the flowers with clear Wink of Stella for a little glitz and glamour. . . and the Gold Metallic Thread tousing at the rear ties in the colours and card.
Because the detail of the stamped image was a little unpronounced I then outlined the petals with a fine tip journalling pen to pop more. I probably didn't follow the lines too precisely as I was intent upon simply avoiding uniformity.
The leaves were stamped in Pear Pizzaz and detail stamped in Old Olive using the two stamps from the Painted Harvest set. I fussy cut both the flowers and the leaves and adhered them to the card base. the bottom left hand flower and leaves are dimensionalised.
The sentiments in this set are very nice and I chose the thankful one as it is more universal and fit the layout best. I stamped in Soft Suede on Whisper White card and simply curled the card and cut the pennant shape in the right hand end.
Here is an angle for you to see the dimension and layers.
This is the interior of the card stamped in the same colours as the front but without the penned details and the Wink of Stella. The inside is lined with a square of Crushed Curry and the Whisper White card.
I hope you have felt inspired, the card and design are simple but the stencilling adds an aspect of interest.
Don't leave us yet - there is still so much to see. Check out Zoe Tant's beautiful creation - I love how Zoe always does something completely different with the technique, she is awesome!
We love sharing with you each month and if you would like to see us feature a particular technique simply comment in the comments section below and we will be sure to share your ideas.
Until next time,
