A Thank You Gift for Sophie

Sophie Zadeh is the Stampin' Up! South Pacific Demonstrator Liaison and Training Manager and is always full of enthusiasm and good ideas ~ which she is always quick to share with the demonstrators Down Under.  I wanted to make her a small gift as a token of my appreciation, so came up with the following:
Given how feminine the Twitterpated designer series papers are I just know that Sophie will love this floral paper and hopefully enjoy the Riding Hood Red roses and Pleated Satin Ribbon which is so luxurious!
I have covered a King Island cheese box with two different sheets of the Twitterpated DSP.  The edging on this box is done in Baja Breeze card stock and I have daubed in the same colour ink to give the project a more vintage feel.

The roses are made using the Blossom Party Original Die and Big Shot in Riding Hood Red and the leaves are made with Little Leaves Sizzlet die in Pear Pizzazz.  I added diamantes for extra bling and hope that they add to the "rich" tone of the trinket box.
I added Crystal Effects as dew droplets and stuck all the flowers down with Tom Bow which is an amazing adhesive - love the way that Sophie says this word so just had to include it!

Enjoying Convention,
Shanni x

A Reason to Smile

June is going to be a fabulous month for Stampin' Up! customers - the company is giving everyone A Reason to Smile.  This is a beautiful floral Two Step Stampin' set that is absolutely free with any $125 order or it can be purchased for just $35.95!*
Featuring two gorgeous gerberas and fill flowers this set will be perfect for every project.  I have to admit that Stampin' Up! could not have chosen a better flower to feature as gerberas are my favourites and I could not wait to get my hands on this set.  I will upload some of my projects in the coming weeks.
The beauty of the stamp designs in the set are that they can be used in at least three different methods that I can instantly think of including Two Step Stampin' images (where you stamp the shaded image and the detailed outline), as outline images which can be shaded and coloured using inks, pens, watercolour pencils and wonder crayons and the shadow images stamps can be used as background stamps for every scrapping and card project.

Contact me today to place your order or alternatively why not book an in-home workshop and I will teach you and your friends how to make two lovely projects using this delightful stamp set.

Paper Belles Rosettes

So Convention is upon us and I am posting this just as I fly south for three days of conferencing and a day and a bit of sight-seeing.  I am excited but a little sleep deprived and looking forward to all of the amazing things I am going to see, learn and feel.

These are the gifts that I have done up for the galz in or group whom I will be spending the next four days with. . .
There are twelve of us Paper Belles heading to Canberra and I wanted us to each have something that tied us together without being OTT.  I have made some rosettes for the girls to wear on their jackets, lanyards or bags - in fact some may prefer never to let these little guys see the light of day. . . but what the heck?

The Extra Large Pillow Boxes at the rear of the rosettes contain the Bag Tags which have been featured over the last month - the rear of each Bag Tag has the name of the attendee and I have customised little aspects - added owls for The Night Owls and other little bits and pieces for the chics. Some girls did not have official name badges (and I like to give my down lines a badge that they can wear to Stampin' Up!events) so that is the little attachment you can see on 2-3 of the packages as well.
The rosettes are made using the Bigz XL Flower Fold Die with Spice Cake Designer Fabric which is just beautiful as it manages to straddle earthy and brighter tones easily.  The primary colour combination is More Mustard, Pool Party and Soft Suede. I made the button in the centre - printed The Paper Belles in script on Very Vanilla card stock and then stamped over it with the flourish out of Creative Elements in Crumb Cake and daubed the edge with More Mustard and covered the whole 3/4" punch out with Crystal Effects.

Each rosette has about twelve layers of fabric - the last or bottom layer is the largest flower from the die - it's made with rubber backed curtain material as I wanted something a bit sturdy so that the whole rosette didn't collapse.  I have also glued a brooch clip to the back of each rosette.
I attached each rosette to a piece of card stock which I had embossed with the mini heart embossing folder from the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions set in the Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue.  I punched out two heart shapes one from the Owl Builder Punch and the other (in Pool Party) using the Small Heart Punch.  I wrote my messages to the glaz on the back.

This rosette is made with a slightly different combination of colours to highlight the earthier tones in the Spice Cake Designer Fabric.  Each of the fourteen rosettes that I made are slightly different and are unique in their own way just like the members in our Paper Belles team.

Having fun in Canberra now and will report back post Convention.

Roomie Gift

Three more sleeps for me before I am off to the big smoke!

I have put together a small gift for my room mate at Canberra Convention - it is always difficult to decide what to give to people who are crafty. . . you want to make them something to show your understanding of their passion and also you want them to be wow'd by your creativity.  But the hassel is that usually they can do everything that you can do and often do it ten times better!

This year I am sharing with my friend Amanda.  we usually get to catch up once or twice a year, she writes and crafts in her spare time just as I do so we have a lot in common.  Her tastes lean towards vintage and shabby chic and mine do too - but whilst she has exemplary taste, I am a little more thrown together. . . so I always worry that she will like what I give her.
So this is a little On Board Journal that I have covered with some vintage newspaper that has random roses printed through it.  I daubed the edges with Soft Suede ink to tie the whole project together.
The larger rose is made using the Fancy Flower Punch from the same papers, the smaller flower is made with the new Blossom Punch in the Autumn Winter Mini and Very Vanilla card stock which I tinted with a damp tea bag and the smallest flower I have made with the retired Trio Flower Punch and retired Creamy Caramel card stock which I have also tinted with a damp tea bag.
The second part of the gift is an old style tin port or lunch box which I have covered with the same paper series.  I sanded the edges to make sure that they don't run the risk of lifting and daubed them with Soft Suede ink.
The pattern on the paper is quite busy so I kept the tag on the handle simple.  The letter "a" is from the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet.  I used Cherry Cobbler card stock and applied Crystal Effects to make it pop.  The ribbon is Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon which I think is so rick looking and silky to touch.
The final part of the treat is that I filled the tin with hand made flowers from retired designer series papers such as Love Letter and Raspberry Tart - both of which I adore.

Hope she likes them!

Tickled Pink!

I love joining my friend Michelle's Make It Monday linky party each week (although I missed this week because my back was not co-operative) - ppp-makeitmonday.blogspot.com.  I have been joining for about three months now and finally feeling more confident about what to link up - the bloggers who frequent Michelle's site are connoisseurs .
I was the winning commenter last week, not only did I link at position 1 but I was selected by random.org for leaving a message on Sandy's blog Lonely Cards.

If you are looking to build your blogging presence or to force yourself to blog regularly and visit other like sites then linky parties are the way to go.  Always remember that it is good blogging etiquette to leave comments and to follow up on comments that are left for you.

Thanks to Meljen Design Digital Stamps for sponsoring the linky party - you rock!

I'm excited!

Stampin' Up! Convention 2012 - Canberra

People are probably wondering what I have been going on about for the past month. . . Stampin' Up! Convention in Canberra that's what!. . . This huge annual event is almost upon us. . . in fact four more sleeps and we will be making our way south to the national capital to join with other mad and enthusiastic Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all around Australia and New Zealand for a celebration of all things Stampin' Up!.
We have three days packed with creativity, fun, games, give aways and inspiration and the best part about it is sharing it with other members of the Paper Belles team.  This year there are a dozen of us heading to Convention (although we have also adopted a couple more), we have a few different things planned in addition to the official Stampin' Up! Convention activities - Virginia from Canberra Guided Tours has been awesome and organised a wine tour of three wineries in the Murrambateman area, we are going to take in the sights of the country side surrounding Canberra and visit a great scrapping and craft shop to whet our appetite for the convention events.

This years Convention is themed "I Am" and it seems to be geared to inspiring Stampin' Up! demonstrators to manage their demonstratorships their way, to be creative in their own individual fashion and to share that independence and inspiration with everyone in their world. . . I look forward to being inspired and energised by the presenters and other demonstrators from the South Pacific.
I am getting a vintage feel from the Convention logo and look forward to seeing the sneak peeks of the upcoming catalogue stamp sets and products.  Customers will have to wait until September to see the things that demonstrators get to see a little earlier.

This year for the first time Stampin' Up! are offering an additional class on the Friday night of Convention - usually this would be free time in the busy convention schedule.  The I Am Creative Class is going to be amazing - all of the products (including the stamp set) are supplied for the three hour class.  The project is an advent calendar and we have been given a peek at part of it.
The colours of the new Christmas designer series papers look exciting - and I love anything with bling so I am going to be delighted with this project.  I only hope that I can keep up with the class as I am a bit of a perfectionist in the way that I create so it will be interesting on so many levels!

I would love it if you could join me for next year's Convention.  "How?" you may ask.  Easy - simply get your own account with Stampin' Up! by joining the Paper Belles Team and you can register for the event from February 2013. . . and the best part is that there has never been a better time to join, especially during the May Paper Party Promotion.  You can join for just $169, tailor the products that you receive as your starter kit and receive a pack of designer series papers every month for the next six months!  Check out my Stampin' Up! website for more information - there is a link over on the right hand margin right at the top.

Last Bag Tag for Convention

Wow - I have five days until I am off to Canberra Convention and I am a tad excited!  I have finished all of my bag tags and other little creations.  Here is the last one:
So same recipe as the others Two Tags Bigz Die - chipboard base, the reverse side of this has Basic Black card stock and Cherry Cobbler lettering using the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet.  For this tag however I have used Timeless Portrait Designer Fabric - this is such a rich looking material - the deep black tones and the vibrant Cherry Cobbler red is hard to resist.
I used Adhesive Sheets with the fabric and it went onto the chipboard so smoothly. I then daubed the edges with Basic Black ink.  The flower is made using Cherry Cobbler card stock and the largest flower from the Blossom Party Original Die - I cut out four with the shottie and twisted them around to make the 3D flower shape.  Crystal Effects for the dew droplets and Always Artichoke card stock for the leaves.

The ribbons on this tag are Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black Scalloped Dots Ribbon, Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon which I simply adore and Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon.  The jewellery hanging from the chain are the Crown Trinkets and Key Trinkets which are just so gorgeous in real life that I cannot resist adding them to this type of project.

You can see where I made a slight boo-boo with the Crystal Effects in the throat of the flower - but you get the good with the bad and I am sure that it will all be overlooked at the end of the day.

Am going to finish packing now. . .

Using Up Some Scraps

I have been sorting through all of my stamping supplies and have discovered a heap of paper that I should use before I invest in more during the Paper Party Promotion this month. . . So here is the card that I came up with this afternoon whilst avoiding finishing my swaps.
I have a heap of Greenhouse Gala designer series papers and old card stock from three seasons ago so this card is made with Summer Sun (yellow) cardstock as well.  I have combined a few current products including the Pear Pizzazz card stock and Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon.
I stamped the two little girls from The Nicest Things about ten months ago and coloured them at the time using Stampin' Write Markers - Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, Wild Wasabi, Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Real Rust and Riding Hood Red.  Punched the image out with the Big Shot today because there was an ink blotch on the bottom of the image from storing the project in the wrong place! Mounted it on Summer Sun.

The flowers were scraps that I have had in my flower box for ages too - Riding Hood Red and Pumpkin Pie card stock originally - Whisper White centres.  I used Crytal Effects to make them pop a little as I thought that the whole project was a little under-whelming.  The sentiment is from a current Hostess Set - Happiest Birthday Wishes.  I used the Decorative Label Punch and daubed the edges with Daffodial Delight.
Decorated the inside with flowers too - glossed the Riding Hood Red one with Crystal Effects.  I also mounted the whole card on Riding Hood Red (with a minimal border) and then on Pear Pizzazz to marry in the whole colour theme. . .

Until next time

Pretty in Pink Convention Bag Tags

I have enjoyed making these tags for my down line members, roomies and friends who will be gathering at Canberra Convention at the end of this month (not long now!). I am not a pink chick so it is out of my comfort zone to work with this colour but because some of my galz are such ladies I had to push myself.
I know that you have heard the story before but I adhered the Twitterpated Designer Fabric to an adhesive sheet and ran it through the Big Shot on the Two Tags Bigz Die.  I also cut the same shape in Chipboard. The reverse side of this tag is done with Island Indigo (which was also run through the shottie).  I daubed the edges of the tag (including the fabric) with Island Indigo ink as I like to cover the chipboard and make it look as professional as possible ;-).
The flower is made using the largest bloom shape from the Blossom Party Original Die.  I have added the dew drops using Crystal Effects. I have also used Little Leaves Sizzlet for the leaves which I have added behind the flower and the hardware frame on the sentiment at the bottom. The trinkets  go perfectly with the subtle colours of this project and add a touch of vintage. The Ribbons that you can see are Pretty in Pink Grosgrain and the Poppy Parade Stitched Poly Ribbon.
I love this little sentiment from the Tea Shoppe set in the Autumn Winter Mini. It is stamped in Island Indigo on Pretty in Pink card stock. The Hodgepodge Hardware has retired but I thought that it tied in with the trinkets and couldn't resist including it sorry!

Bag Tag for Convention in Poppy Parade

Convention is creeping up really quickly now, slowly but surely the projects are coming together.  Only three more tags to make. I am very conscious of the bag tags fitting people's personalities so I needed to make some of them bolder and brighter. . .

Once again I have used the Twitterpated Designer Fabric and chipboard.  Cut out with the Big Shot and the Two Tags Bigz Die.  The fabric was applied to the chipboard with adhesive sheets.  I daubed the edges with Poppy Parade ink because it just pops and drew out the subtle line in the fabric.
I made the flower with three sets of the largest bloom from the Blossom Party Original Die. I distressed the card stock and then twisted it in a circle to form the shape of the flowers.  The dew drops are Crystal Effects. I should do a lesson on these one day. . .

I love the way that the trinkets fit in with this tag.  I want the tags to be a bit like a charm bracelette but without catching on things!

Another Bag Tag for Convention

Busy week and only 19 sleeps until Stampin' Up! South Pacific Convention. . . yay!

So here is another tag that I have made for some of the roomies, friends and down lines attending Convention with me.
I've used the Twitterpated Designer Fabric which I ran through the shottie with the Two Tags Bigz Die.  I have used adhesive sheets with the fabric and stuck the fut out to a chip board version of the tag.  The adhesive sheets are sooooo easy to use with the fabric - it all slides together like a hot knife over butter - smoooothly!
The ribbons are an assortment including Poppy Parade and Pear Pizzazz in Stitched Poly Ribbon, Pretty in Pink Grosgrain and Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon.  I thought that these would look good on the key ring where the tag attaches to the bag.

The flower is made with the big flower from Blossom Party Original Die.  I punched out three in Island Indigo, daubed the edges in the same colour ink to give the bloom some depth and dimension.  The leaves are Little Leaves Sizzlet cut outs in Pear Pizzazz to go with the fabric. I couldn't stop myself from adding the drops of Crystal Effects as dew on the petls - don't they look velvety and fresh?
The trinkets that I have attached for extra bling are from the Trinket Crowns and Trinket Keys embellishments which I just love.  They make the whole project look extra special and that little bit more glamorous!
I love how detailed these little pieces of jewellery are and they come with lobster clasps too so that if you want to remove them from your projects down the track you can.  The Hodgepodge Hardware in silver is retired but I could not resist adding because it married in with the rest of the project.

Hope everyone likes them when they get them and attaches them to their Convention bags!

Farewell to Vintage Vogue

The American retirement list includes Vintage Vogue so there is a fair chance that it will retire from the Aussie cattie too.  I shall miss this set as it is one of my "go to" sets whenever I need to whip up a card. Here is my card for tonight.
Very simple card.  The flowers from Vintage Vogue are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and Soft Suede on Very Vanilla card stock and cut out.  The centres have been punched out of either Cherry Cobbler or Soft Suede card stock using the circle from the Owl Punch and the Crop-o-Dile (also retiring).  I have attached them with TomBow glue and dimensionals. As a final touch to give them some more bling I have used Crystal Effects on the centres.
The background stamps are all from the Creative Elements set.  I have stamped in Soft Suede and Crumb Cake inks.  In order to make the brown flowers pop a little I have also daubed their petals with Soft Suede.
I distressed the outer edge of the card and daubed with Soft Suede ink. The greeting is from You're Cherished and stamped in Cherry Cobbler to balance the layout.  I added Pearl Jewels to opposing corners and sprayed the whole card with Champagne Shimmer Mist diluted with rubbing alcohol.
I will be really devastated when this set retires. Whilst its a keeper for me it will be hard not using it in demonstrations and workshops.  If you haven't purchased Vintage Vogue yet and have been meaning to, contact me today so that I can order your set.

Tea Shoppe in Black 'n Gold

I have been dying to try the new Tea Shoppe stamp set from the Autumn Winter Mini and have finally had some time today to make a card.  I think that the set is awesome! So this is a "thank you" card I have come up with using mixed materials.

So the card base is Basic Black card stock (A4 sheet cut in halves portrait).  I embossed with gold embossing powder and the flower image from the Tea Shoppe stamp set.  I cut a Scallop Circle Original die shape with the shottie, cut it in half and daubed the edges with Early Espresso ink.

The designer series paper is from the Mocha Morning Specialty series - I love the rich, luxurious colours in this particular sheet (gold and bronze with dark brown bordering on black accents) and was hard pressed to choose between the strips on the reverse and the beautiful filigree that you see above.  It is mounted on Soft Suede card stock and daubed on the edges.  The Basic Black satin ribbon adds another texture and adds to the overall tactile appeal of the project.

I cut a Bigz Circle in acetate and stamped the large cup image from Tea Shoppe in Staz-On Jet Black.  I then turned the acetate over (so that the cup would be a right handed version instead of the stamped left) and added the steam - Swirls Scribbles Sizzlet in Brushed Gold card stock.

The greeting is from Tea Shoppe as well, stamped in Staz-On Jet Black on Brushed Gold card stock, punched out using the Modern Label punch.  The brad is the "champagne" colour from the Basics Glimmer Brads set.  Inside I stamped the card with the Louisa May Alcott saying "'Stay' is a charming word in a friend's vocabulary" from the Tea Shoppe set ~ I love this sentiment.

I wanted this card to feel lush and expensive - how I feel when I get an hour to have uninterrupted coffee with a friend and hope that I have accomplished it.

Cheers

Lovin the Apothecary Art Stamp Set. . .

How nice is it when a project simply comes together without any effort or stress?  That is how I fell every time I work with the Apothecary Art stamp set in the new Autumn Winter Mini.  This is today's effort.

The base card is Whisper White card stock.  I ran a piece of Pear Pizzazz through the Big Shot using the Polka Dot Embossing Folder and voila this is the lovely background that I got.

A piece of Twitterpated DSP mounted on Riding Hood Red was just enough to bring out the fine red lines in the paper which looks so fresh and clean! A strip of Pear Pizzazz Pleated Satin Ribbon set off the whole card beautifully.

I stamped the second largest image from Apothecary art in Staz-On Jet Black and coloured in the flowers using a Riding Hood Red Stampin' Write Marker - I love these pens - the colour is so true and the double ended nibs make every project so easy.  The leaves were coloured using Pear Pizzazz ink and an aqua painter.  Ran the whole thing through the shottie with the right sized Labels Collection Framelits Die and mounted it with dimensionals.

The greeting through the centre is from Apothecary Art stamped with Staz-On - I cut the card stock into a pennant shape and daubed the edges with Pear Pizzazz.

Hope you like this easy-peasy card!

Beau Chateau Album (part 2)

I hope that the album project has whet your appetite and that you love the Beau Chateau papers as much as I do - they are such versatile designer series papers that it would be crazy not check themout for yourself a little more closely. . . contact me if you would like to see some samples or purchase the pack today. . .

Any way back to the inside - the papers in the Beau Chateau designer series paper selection are so diverse and beautiful there is something for every occasion and project. . .

The Elements of Style stamp set compliments the Beau Chateau papers so beautifully - the hummingbird is perfect as a contrast to the pretty designs of the papers and the scroll is a perfect match to the shabby chic patterns in the series.
Soft Suede, Pretty in Pik and Marina Mist go together so well.  I stamped this page with the floral image from Elements of Style.  The taffeta ribbon is Soft Suede and the brad is from the Antique Brads selection with a pearl (from the jewels range).
Here is a little photo pocket that I made which folds out to three times the size of what you see.  Stamped with the scroll image from Elements of Style in Soft Suede and daubed the edges in the same colour.  The ribbon is lighter in this instance - the Crumb Cake Taffeta Ribbon compliments the colours the Beau Chateau designer series papers.

Enjoy and if you are looking for more inspiration and ideas, including much nicer embellishments then visit Lauren's blog www.fairyscribbles.blogspot.com - she is one talented lady!

Beau Chateau Album (part 1)

Given that I shared the Beau Chateau Tin that I made on Monday I thought that I would continue with a theme of sorts and share the envelope album that I made with my talented friend and down line Lauren Colless a couple of weeks ago.
The album itself is made from six envelopes, card stock inserts and an external cover - but that kind of takes the romance out of it all! So a few more details will make it all the more appealing. . . We constructed and covered the cover of the album and made out own titles for the spine.  The Beau Chateau designer series paper is perfect for this shabby chic project.  The words "Memories - We do not remember days, we remember moments (Cesare Pavese)" come from the Beau Chateau paper series.
The frame is also an image from the Beau Chateau paper series which I cut out and mounted on Soft Suede card stock which I trimmed down to mirror the shape of the frame.  The floral images are also from the papers and I have Crystal Effected them to add a bit of dimension - of course I couldn't stop myself from daubing the edges first to capture that vintage aged feel. . .
The little piece of Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon sets off the beautiful blues of the designer series papers and adds texture to the project.  Else where in the project I have added Victoria Crochet Trim to give that luxurious feel that appeals so much to crafty people.
So each page inside is an envelope which has been trimmed on both sides - one to adhere to the spine of the album and the other to act as an opening to the "pockets" that photos and journals can be inserted into. . .
Here is a closer look at the "page pockets". I decorated each page with the Beau Chateau papers, distressed and daubed edges so that they married in with the shabby feel.  I also used the Scallop Trim Border punch, the Pinking Heart Border punch and Eyelet Border punch (not all seen here) to add a little pizazz to the project.  The scroll stamp is from Elements of Style one of my all time favourite stamp sets - I stamped the image with Marina Mist ink in a random fashion.
This is a page highlighting the chicken wire paper which is just so rustic and appealing. The floral image is from Elements of Style again, stamped in Soft Suede.

I will share a few more images from the album in my next post - I think that the photos I have uploaded are probably going to slow down most peoples' carrier :-). In the meantime you might like to check out Lauren's take on the same project at www.fairyscribbles.blogspot.com.au

See you soon!
