Welcome to another Totally Techniques Design Team Hop - this month our technique is the Baby Wipe technique. I really enjoyed this technique as it gave me an excuse to get a bit messy! Of course we are referring to the way that you ink up a stamp and you use baby wipes as your ink pad and Classic Stamping' Up! Re-Inkers as the ink. . .

Here's my creation this month:
It's a square card! Yay! Just for something a little different right? My base card is Crumb Cake, mounted with a square of Watermelon Wonder and then mounted with a square of the new Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper. I chose the "sprinkles" one because the others were either too busy or too plain for my purposes. The colours all blended in with my baby wipe colour palette.
I took my inspiration from the cupcakes at my youngest daughter's 10th birthday party last week. . .
I was thinking about how I could use a combination of colours without it looking like a technicolour explosion. Of course it's important to use solid stamp images to show off the baby wipe technique well so we have all been sweating on themes and images these past couple of weeks.
I stamped on Whisper White card stock using the following re-inkers on my baby wipes: Peekaboo Peach, Watermelon Wonder, Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo and Mint Macaron. The ice cream stamp I used is from Cool Treats which is a two step stamping set. Once I had stamped the ice cream with the baby wipes palette, I stamped the detail using Watermelon Wonder stamped off once so that it was a little more delicate over all the colours.
The cones are Sahara Sand with detail in Crumb Cake to marry in with the DSP and base card. I cut both the ice creams and the cones out with the Frozen Treats Framelit Dies. I love that the framelits cut inside the stamped image because I could manipulate the final image to make sure that the darker areas of the stamping were captured. I then coated the whole ice cream area with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (and the precision glue). Finally I added some Sprinkles Embellishments to each of the ice creams.
The next feature is the layering - I cut two lots of the stars and squiggles in Watermelon Wonder using the Star Blast Edgelit Dies in the Occasions Mini. I love these cut outs as they lend themselves to so many occasions and projects (not just cards). I wanted the stars to pop a little more so I highlighted them with Wink of Stella clear.
I layered one set of the exploding stars at the back flush to the DSP, next I incorporated a Delicate White Doily, then on top of that (dimensionalised) I added another set of the exploding stars. . . I detached the smaller spirally stars from the main cut out and stuck them at various angles to seem like an explosion of happiness. I used the squiggles from the set in a similar fashion and stuck the negatives of the stars to the background too.
You can get a feel for the layering with this side view. I added the three ice cream cones with dimensionals as well as I wanted them to jump off the explosion for more fun. Plan to use this card as a congratulations recognition for one of my team members in the coming weeks.
To add some colour contrast and to tie all the colours together I cut a strip of the sprinkles DSP and used the reverse side which is what is set behind the ice cream cones and forms the mount for the Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon. The contrast in the ribbon and the DSP add texture and interest to what is a very busy layout. You will see that I also added extra Sprinkles Embellishments to the background.The sentiment is from a number of sets - Cool Treats for the "you're" and "sweet" and the "awesome" comes from Marquee Messages which is a brilliant set. I wanted the card to send the message that the recipient is sweet and awesome all at the same time! I thought by stamping them in different colours that could have greater impact ~ I am referring to this as double stamping sentiments, and I plan to use it a bit more in future because we have so many great greetings but we all tend to use the same old ones again and again. . .
The words are stamped in Watermelon Wonder, Flirty Flamingo and Peekaboo Peach on Whisper White card stock. I simply cut the card to size and used the Banner Triple punch to do each side. The square oval shape behind is from the Star Blast Edgelit Dies (I just cut it in halves and stuck it to the back of the banner. The whole thing is dimensionalised off the card surface.
This gives you a little perspective on the five layers on the card. It has a felling of luxury and weight to it which I like in my cards.
I decorated the inside with an ice cream cone as I did an extra to be able to choose which one I wanted on the front. I didn't use Dazzling Diamonds here as I thought it looked great in the plain colours. The cone is a little textured by the Frozen Treats framelit.
